Headphones and speakers designed in Copenhagen.

A small budget, a big launch and a song the band had finished the week before.

A 3-minute music film and a 15-second teaser.

Three minutes, one song, no edit points the band did not play. The 15-second teaser is the last chorus, released a week before the speaker went on sale.

The speaker appears in every shot but is never the subject. It stands on the roof where a monitor would be, and the film lets you hear that it was enough.

Process

One rooftop, one afternoon, golden hour as the deadline. The band played live; the speaker was the only sound source.

We had one afternoon and three cameras. The band played the song seven times as the sun went down, and we moved the cameras between takes instead of between shots.

The final film combines the last three takes, cut on the beat so the light changes from one chorus to the next. The sound is the speaker's, recorded with a single microphone in front of it.

Result

Our first film for Verso, and the reason there were three more.

The band put the film on their own channels as the official video, which carried the launch further than the budget could have.

The first production run sold out within the launch month. Three more films for Verso followed, the latest of them Quiet Machines.
